It I am not a beauty guru by any stretch of the imagination. I have probably two eyeshadow palettes to my name and one of them is by Wet n’ Wild (not that there’s anything wrong with Wet n’ Wild! They’re a great brand and they also don’t test on animals).
I like very simple (and quick–I’m talking 7 minutes average) makeup on myself on a day to day basis. I try to use the bare minimum to leave my house and not look completely like I’m dying.
My first step is a moisturizer. I’m still using my tried and true Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream moisturizer for extra-dry skin. If I remember, I use primer, too. The one I’ve been using lately is e.l.f.’s Poreless Face Primer. It’s not the best primer in the world, but I think it does something and it’s better than not using one, probably.
I use Maybelline’s Instant Age Rewind Eraser as a concealer. It really helps with my dark under eyes and acne spots. After this step, if I’m really feeling fancy, I’ll use foundation. This is not at all an everyday step as I find it to be really heavy on my face, but I use Smashbox’s Studio Skin 15 Hour Hydrating foundation. I use It Cosmetic’s Airbrush Blurring Foundation Brush #101 to blend both of these into my skin.
The most crucial part for me is powder. If I don’t have any powder on, any face makeup I just put on will be off of my face faster than I put it on. I’ve been using Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless powder foundation for the longest time. This isn’t really a setting powder, but I use it with the sponge it comes with to “bake” in normal places, like under my eyes, my nose, etc., and then lightly all over with an e.l.f. powder brush.
To finish my face makeup, I use e.l.f.’s Studio Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder in St. Lucia to lightly contour and add color back to my face. I sometimes do highlight with Ulta’s Color Pure eyeshadow in the shade YOLO, but I don’t always do this.
For eyebrows, I use a mix of the bottom right three shades from the Full Exposure palette by Smashbox.
Eyebrows are generally the most time-consuming part of my makeup routine for me. I start by underlining the whole brow, then I draw myself a basically brand new eyebrow tail, because my natural eyebrows stop short of where they need to be. I’ll fill in the arch, then blend whatever’s left on the brush into the rest of my eyebrows.
Eyeshadow and eyeliner are used interchangeably, and sometimes I just don’t do either. I use the Full Exposure palette on my eyes most often, and just blend in some of the lighter brown shades to create some depth. If I don’t wear eyeliner, I’ll smudge a little bit of dark brown and black at my lash line. If I do eyeliner, I use this e.l.f. felt tip liner and just do a tiny wing.
For mascara, I’m currently using Maybelline’s The Colossal Big Shot. I do really like this mascara because it doesn’t transfer anywhere else on your face once it dries, which is a problem I always seem to have with other mascaras.
My final step is lipstick. I tend to try lots of lipsticks and switch things around, but as of right now, I like Wet n’ Wild’s MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Lipstick in the shade Rebel Rose for everyday wear.
And that’s it! This seems like a lot of steps, but I get my makeup done by following these steps in less than 10 minutes every day. ✨
